Mahé is the largest island and the heart of the country. It holds Victoria, the capital, the international airport, the main hospitals and schools, and the widest choice of property anywhere in Seychelles. If you want a home that works year round rather than a pure holiday base, Mahé is usually where the search starts.
Where to buy on Mahé
Beau Vallon
The best known beach on the island, on the northwest coast. A lively strip of hotels, restaurants and dive centres, and one of the most sought-after addresses for both homes and apartments.
Eden Island
A purpose-built marina development just off the east coast, and the one place designed from the ground up for foreign owners. Villas, maisons and apartments here can come with a private berth, and freehold is open to non-Seychellois.
Glacis and the north
Steep green hillsides above the sea on the northern tip, prized for sunset views over the water. Homes here trade on their outlook.
Victoria and central Mahé
In and around the capital you are close to business, the port and daily life. More practical than postcard, but central to everything.
The south
Anse Royale, Takamaka, Baie Lazare and Anse à la Mouche run down the quieter southern coast, a run of beautiful beaches and calmer, more residential neighbourhoods.
Who buys on Mahé
Mahé suits buyers who want a full-service base with everything on hand, from investors in Eden Island apartments to families after a hillside villa with a view.
